Marathon® Drill Pipe Is Friction Welded

We use friction welding for joining pipes and end pieces together to produce a very strong joint.
During the friction welding process temperatures of 2100 degrees Fahrenheit are reached during which the pipe and end piece are joined into a single, strong and homogenous unit.
After the welding process the joints are machined and the excess material is removed so the joint area is smooth and even.
It is vital to achieve quality during friction welding. Mechanical tests are performed on each batch to ensure perfect results. A selection of joints are exposed to breakage tests so that any faults can be discovered before production begins.
